What is Psychometric Test

 Psychometric tests are designed to measure candidates’ suitability for a role based on the required personality characteristics and aptitude (or cognitive abilities).a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals’ mental capabilities and behavioural style. They generally consist of a series of timed questions, that are most often numerical (maths questions), verbal (reading comprehension questions) or logical (diagrammatic questions).

 

Psychometric test are used in recruitment because companies want a means of fairly and accurately predicting which applicants are likely to be successful in a particular job.

The test aimed to assess the specific abilities of candidates as they related to the requirements of the role.

For example, if a job requires the ability to work with and process numerical data, it is better for employers to be able to test whether a candidate is able to do that, rather than just asking them: candidates might over-estimate their abilities or lie. There was a need for better solution.
